I've been spending a lot more time lately working on new techniques and improving my graphic design skills. I had taken a long "learning" break when work got really busy and kind of gave up on creating any personal stuff for a while, while I got used to a new, busier work routine.
One of the biggest changes that has helped me to free up time has been logging my "to-do's" for the day, and doing the shittiest or hardest stuff first, whenever possible. Once I get the big stuff our of the way, I can choose to get ahead of work or work on personal stuff.
Since I'm trying to move my work focus into more design-heavy work again, I realize I really need to get back into shape - and continue getting better and stronger.
Being a self-taught designer, there are always little hiccups along the way, like how to save down files so they're not one bajillion gigabits, or optimizing artwork for the final medium. Man - thank god for YouTube. I got an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil recently which have been amazing tools for bringing my illustrations to life.
I've been really inspired by my Austin creative community and a few designers I found on Instagram, so working from some of my current design inspirations, I created a few little graphics.
Here's a little mood board of current *vibes*...
In an effort to shift my focus in work, here's to creating a little of my own luck! ;)
Some slightly different versions of these are also available for sale in my Print Shop - check them out! (Edit: Society6 is having some issues displaying some new artwork I uploaded. Check back later!)
